+++TRANSMISSION TERMINATED+++

The Siege or Tarsis Ultra is a pseudo re-enactment of a battle from the Black Library novel “Warriors of Ultramar”, by Graham McNeill and Marc Gascoigne. It will be a Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse game between the forces of the Imperium and a Tyranid invasion. The following rules will be used for this scenario game:

• Warhammer 40,000, 5th Edition Rules
• Warhammer 40k Apocalypse and Apocalypse Reloaded
• All Official Game Workshop Published FAQs and Datasheets
• All Forgeworld Imperial Armor Publications and FAQs
• Bell of Lost Souls: Lords of Battle v2 Datasheets
Link: (http://theflylordsofterra.blogspot.com/2009/09/40k-mini-dex-logo-sheet-a...)

Note: The order of precedence for rules is as follows
1. Scenario Special Rules/Restrictions (will be published in advance)
2. Games Workshop rules, Datasheets, and FAQs
3. Forgeworld rules and FAQs (Datasheets for Apocalypse overrides Rules in Imperial Armor)
4. Bell of Lost Souls

Special Rules:

Each player should plan on a 2000 to 5000 point force from one of the following Games Workshop Codecies:
Tyranids
Imperial Guard
Space Marines
Note: If you have an army from a named Chapter (i.e.
Blood Angels, Black Templars, etc.) you may use it
However, it will be as a standard Codex Chapter using
rules from Codex Space Marines.

To stay somewhat in line of the story from the novel, no Imperial Titans (Super Heavy Walkers) will be used for this game. Imperial flyers and Drop Pods may be used, but will be at a disadvantage (see Imperial Flyer rules below). There are no restrictions on Titans (Bio-Titans), Gargantuan Creatures, or Fliers for Tyranid players.

Imperial Flyers/Drop Pods:
The Tyranids have air dominance forcing any Imperial Flyer to fly extremely low in order to avoid anti-aircraft spore flak. Hence all Flyers are considered Skimmers; thus special rules for shooting at Flyers will not be enforced with one exception, a shooting roll-to-hit of a 6 will still be needed due to the speed at which the “Flyer/Skimmer” is moving. Also Flyers held in reserve must enter from a table edge, again to avoid the anti-aircraft spore flak.
Since Drop Pods cannot fly low, they must push through the anti-aircraft spore flak. Any Drop Pod, or any model attempting to enter play in a similar fashion, must take d3+1 spore flak hits at STR 8 and AP 3. If the vehicle is destroyed, the occupants are destroyed as well as they plummet to the ground. Since Drop Pods are automatically immobilized upon landing, an “Immobilized” damage result for a Drop Pod will become a weapon destroyed.

The Strategic Asset “Flank March” is not available to be chosen nor can it be used even if a formation grants it.

Deep Strike:
Deep Strike insertions are allowed with one restriction; models may not Deep Strike into their opponents’ safe zone (safe zones will be announced at the game).

Special deployment rules:
Imperial Defenders of Tarsis Ultra will set up first and have first turn.
No Mans Land must be at least 18”

Cool idea.

Are you going to have enough bug players?

I hope so. I'll start asking for people to sound off once the first of Feb rolls around.

... you might want to correct that date in the thread title....

And with the new Tyranid codex coming out in a couple weeks (preview copies now in store), I'm sure there will be enough bug players - just expect much confusion with the new rules.... :^(

For those that are playing Space Marines or Imperial Guard for this event, I have prepared a custom Apocalypse Formation Data Sheet for Deathwatch Kill-Teams. Please note that for this event, no more than one (1) Deathwatch Kill-Team Formation may be taken per player. Here is a link to the data sheet:

Nice job on that datasheet.

Maybe an option for them to ride in a Valkyrie, Aquila, or Thunderhawk?

I'm trying to remember how the team in Warrior Brood deployed.

In Brood Warrior they deployed in a Thunderhawk and then in Drop Pods (I may add Drop Pods to the dedicated Transpost options). As far as Thunderhawk, my datasheet says if they are not mounted in a vehicle then they must be held in reserve and teleport. Placing them in a T-Hawk is being mounted in a vehicle. As far as Valkries... Those are for guard not Marines. :)

And Inquisitors (like the ones that boss around Deathwatch Teams)

That looks awesome! I love all of the Forge World beasties.

I would normally bemoan the unpainted miniatures, but I have to say that I loved the picture of the plastic grey Space Marines in the back of the grey tower. They were almost invisible!

Urk.
I almost lost it when I saw the unpainted and not built FW Barbed Hierodule. That's pushing the whole unpainted thing - I may as well put a pile of sprue on the table for my Landraider (like I could actually find an unbuilt OOP Mk1), or taken one step further, the NIB rhino (box and all).... sigh, it just so distracts from the pagentry and visual impact of the game.

Looks like the Imps held the one corner, and pretty much lost everywhere else, and lost even the walls near the Hierodule (which was beautifully painted. Shocking contrast with the unpainted. Did you use it with a 2+/3++ save?)

Other than those lumpies of grey, looked like a massive turn-out - do you have any bat rep, or forces used? End results? Things learned to help run a smoother game?
